Dr. Alice Heinel-Lockhart, MChD BChD BSc

“My favourite part of dentistry is that it allows to me engage with people from all different backgrounds. Developing trusting practitioner/patient relationships is essential to me. While I am passionate about being a well-rounded general dentist, I find working with patients who are in pain or experience anxiety to be extremely rewarding.

Educational Background

Dr. Heinel-Lockhart attended the University of Leeds, where she was awarded a combined Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery and a Bachelor’s in Oral Science, with distinction. Following university she went on to participate in a year of further training where she worked as part of the National Health Service in the UK.

Participating in regular professional development allows Dr. Heinel-Lockhart to stay up to date and practice evidence-based dentistry. She regularly attend post-graduate training courses in areas that interest her and has most recently received certificates to provide facial aesthetics treatments.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Heinel-Lockhart believes that education is essential in achieving and maintaining good oral health, and a healthcare professional, she is well placed within the community to provide this, not just to her patients, but to everyone. Prior to moving to the Bahamas, Dr. Heinel-Lockhart was active in the development and implementation of an ongoing community engagement project that promoted oral health in children under five.

Outside the Office

Dr. Heinel-Lockhart grew up living between Zimbabwe, the Bahamas, and Kenya. She now resides in the Nassau area with her husband Joe, where she enjoys spending time with her large and close extended family. When she has free time, Dr. Heinel-Lockhart enjoys yoga, running, and travel.
